In
“Rota” for 4 flutes (1991), the 43 possible 4-note chords are
canonically developed, from the closest (0,1,2,3) to the widest (0,3,6,9)
one, and viceversa, all amounting to 84 chords.
The
module is arranged on an all-interval ascending series of 12 figures, so
that the module is repeated 7 times before being applied to the same chord.
The initial situation comes again after 12x7=84 intervals, so that the 84
supplementary chords are applied to a 84-figure module. The entries of the
deriving canon are placed on augmented forth at 14 ¾ -bar distance.
